Help if you are experiencing domestic violence:
- Are you ever scared of your partner or ex-partner?
- Are you afraid of giving your opinion?
- Does your partner constantly belittle or humiliate you?
- Has your partner ever deliberately withheld money or food or affection?
- Have you been threatened or hit?
- Are you forced to do things you don't want to or like?
- Is your partner jealous and possessive of you, controlling where you go and who you can see?
Domestic violence doesn't always mean physical violence. An abusive relationship may include any of these behaviours and many other forms of emotional abuse and controlling behaviour. Domestic violence is never the fault of the victim and it is never acceptable.
If you are in immediate danger, call the police 999.
The police will take domestic violence seriously and are able to refer you onto other agencies who can also offer support.
